Kroatia IV / Croatia IV

Kroatiassa vietimme joka päivä ainakin hetken rannalla. Meri olikin koko reissumme suurin ihastus. Ihanampi kuin kumpuilavat punatiilikattoiset kaupungit, auringon kuuma lämpö iholla tai  jäätelö paikkojen eksoottiset makuvaihtoehdot.  Vesi oli hyvin puhdasta ja ihmeellisen kirkasta. Rannat olivat kivikkoisia jopa uimiseen tarkoitetty yleinen ranta oli pienen pientä kivimurua. Ihmisillä oli mukanaan rannalla pehmustettuja rantapatjoja tai sitten he vuokrasivat rantatuoleja lähi kioskin pitäjiltä. Useat käyttivät rannalla uima kenkiä. Sellaisia tossun ja kengän risteytyksiä.
Ostin lapsille haavit meduusojen keräämistä varten ( juu kuolleiden rannalla löllyvien!) Uudet snorkkelit olivat myös heti kovassa käytössä.
Meille sattui säiden puolesta hyvä lomailu ajankohta. Sillä ensimmäiseen 10 päivään ei taivaalla lipunut pilven hattaraakaan. Vasta viimeisinä lomapäivinämme taivaalta tipahteli sade pisaroita ja eräänä yönä ylitsemme lipui ukkosrintama. Lämpimät säät (jopa 37astetta varjossa) toki tekivät myös sen ettei päivän kuumimpina hetkinä ollut muuta vaihtoehtoa kuin rauhoittua asunnolle lepäämään, syömään ja viettämään kaikin puolin leppoisaa siestaa. Aurinkorasvaa reissussa kului ja paljon. Hyvä ja joka päiväinen rasvaaminen kannatti, sillä vältyimme lasten kanssa auringon polttamilta. Minun poskilleni ja nenäpäälleni tuli lisää auringon suukkoja, sellaisia kesäpisamia, en ole mielestäni koskaan vielä näyttänyt näin kesäiseltä.

Teimme muutamia kaupunki matkoja lähi alueen suurempiin kaupunkeihin. Vierailimme mm. Rovinjissa, Pulassa sekä Porec.issa.

In Croatia we spent a lot of time on the beach. Sea was the loveliest thing on our holiday. Lovelier than the

 winding roads with the red tiled roofs of the houses, than the warm glow of the sun on your skin in the evening,than all the exotic flavors of the various gelato places. The water was clear, very salty and wonderfully  cool. The beaches where rocky, even the public beach that was ment for swimming had a rock based bottom, no sand anywhere. I admit it was a suprise. Not that we minded tho. The girls liked to collect shells and small pebbles on the beach. K liked to throw the stones to the ocean and giggle when he heared the blob sound. Locals used patted matresses for sunbathing and or they rented a  beach chair for the kiosk near the beach.
We had very warm and sunny days during the first 10 days of our stay in Croatia. There where no clouds, just clear blue skies. The downfall was that sometimes it was almost too hot. ( at least for us northerners it felt very mu ch so) Some days the temperatures rose up to 37 dregrees celsius in the shade. We ended up spending those hot hours of the days cooped up on our appartment eating, drinking refreshments and all in all enjoying lazy siesta athmosphere.I ended up useing all the sun screen I had with me ( a big one!) but it paid off as not me nor the kids had any sun burn, just a healthy warm glow. We look sun kissed, and I like it. I got more sun frekles on my face and I have to admit that I don't think I've ever looked this summery in my life. On the last days ot started to cool down and on few times it rained a little. One night we heared a thunderstorm pass.. and in the morning the air was really fresh.

We made a few outings to the near by cities Rovinj, Pula and Porec. We took a boat trip to go to Rovinj and it was so much fun! How much we laughed. In Pula we went to see some of the old buildings built by the romans. Porec was a destination purely for hangin around visiting a aquarium and to do some small shopping.
